“ We had a lovely 8 course meals with wine pairing lunch and truly appreciated the quality of the food and the attentive service—especially from the young lady who took care of us so graciously throughout the meal. However, we were quite disappointed to discover a €20 charge for the final glass of port wine, which we believed was complimentary. The wine server did not mention there would be an additional cost, and had that been made clear, we would have declined it. Unfortunately, this unexpected charge left us with a sour note after what was otherwise a wonderful experience. For a two-star Michelin restaurant, we expected a higher level of transparency. So be careful when they offer an extra glass of wine as it might cost you! ”
“ Our dinner was truly a delightful experience – a culinary journey that was visually stunning and rich with unexpected, nuanced flavors. The service was impeccable, and the charm of the historic building provided the perfect setting for the occasion. ”
“ Antiqvvm – a culinary symphony above the Douro! My spouse and I rose in a full standing ovation for the Chef and his Team—Bravo, Maestros! Now to the review :) Some meals linger for flavour; a rare few reset your idea of what cooking can achieve. Our dinner this March at Antiqvvm—newly adorned with two Michelin stars—falls firmly in that second camp. From the leafy terrace you glimpse the river, but once the first amuse-bouche lands, Porto slips away and you are carried through an eight-course (13 in our case for our honeymoon) narrative of colour, texture, and scent. We chose the full tasting menu with wine pairing, and never once looked back. Service & atmosphere: “Choreography” is the only word that fits. Plates arrive in silent unison, water glasses refill as if by telepathy, and dish descriptions read like poetry without ever drifting into lecture. Picture a chamber orchestra in flawless counterpoint: every gesture, pour, and plate drop timed to the millisecond, yet offered with effortless grace and an easy smile. You never have to ask— the team already knows. Crystal stays spotless, cutlery re-aligns itself, and every question, no matter how curious, earns a thoughtful, unhurried answer. It isn’t dinner so much as watching Leonardo da Vinci lay the final brushstroke on the Mona Lisa while a calm ensemble keeps the studio humming. Precise, pristine, and warmly human all at once! Final word: The Chef and THE Team, they—and only they—stand in front of the masterpieces they deliver; we are merely lucky guests, basking in their CREATION! If you’re ready to let dinner rewrite your definition of possibility, reserve a seat—then surrender, applaud, and enjoy the art unfolding before you. ”
“ We came the day after the big Iberian outage. Revenge dining you may say. The sensory moment menus were spectacular, though some dishes were more successful than others IMHO. I personally enjoyed most the umami rich foie gras with tangy rhubarb & slight sweetness. Outstanding. The Claus Porto 'soap' was a very nice touch. Cute. The recommended bubbly worked well with overall - thanks to the sommelier. I deeply appreciated the work behind the plate choices & presentation, right down to the cup & saucer ..though few were a bit over the top for the refined vibe. Service level met expectation .. though there were a bit of rush towards next course. Pricing had factored in the 2-stars status. Loved the overall experience & environment. ”
“ Antiqvvm is definitely one of the best restaurants my girlfriend and I have tried. If it’s not the best, it’s pretty close! From the moment we walked in, we were won over by the cozy and romantic vibe. The amazing view of the bridge adds a special touch to the whole experience. The food is just incredible. Every bite is full of flavor, beautifully prepared and presented with so much attention to detail. You can really taste the skill of the chefs in each dish. The staff is awesome too. They’re friendly, attentive, and make sure you have everything you need, all while being super nice and knowledgeable. Whether you’re into gourmet food or just looking for an unforgettable dinner in a romantic setting, Antiqvvm is a place you have to check out. ”
“ This is a top notch experience in Porto. The grounds themselves are beautiful with a great view of the river. Dinner started with cocktails in the garden. We got the vegetarian and the meat tasting menus, they both had some great signature dishes. On the meat / fish side I really appreciated the food being tasty - adventurous yes, but not so far to comprise the eating experience. Friendly service, and some great wine choices (get the pairing!). ”
“ Antiqvvm delivers a refined and memorable dining experience. The service was warm and attentive, and the Sensory Moments tasting menu with wine pairing was beautifully presented with well-balanced flavors. Portions were on the small side, and we didn’t leave completely full, but the quality and setting more than made up for it. The view over the Douro River adds an extra touch to a truly special evening. Highly recommended. ”
“ Great presentation of foods and taste, nice garden for a drink prior to the meal, very worth to visit. Only improvement is description of each dish by English which is important part of experience. We know the waitress did her best and she was pleasant, but wish it could be better illustrative. ”
